After a brief holiday break the Champ of the Week is back! And we could not have a more fitting winner as your first Champ of 2019. Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young has decided to give back to the community by working to help those in medical debt. The Hawks star has partnered with RIP Medical Debt to erase more than $1 million in debt for people in Atlanta who are struggling with past due medical bills.

With a  donation of $10,000, given through the Trae Young Foundation, the NBA star was able to get rid of $1,059,186.39 worth of medical debt for 570 people in the area. Young told WSBTV, “The city of Atlanta has welcomed me with open arms. Giving back to this community is extremely important to me. I hope these families can find a bit of relief knowing that their bills have been taken care of as we enter the New Year.” For going above an beyond for his community, Trae Young is your Champ Of The Week…tra la la.
