Week 14 in the NFL is their annual “My Cause My Cleats” week. Players from every team all over the league will wear custom made cleats for causes they support off the field, on the field this Sunday. Two custom cleats hit very close to home and our hearts hear in Iowa. This Sunday, New England Patriot and former Iowa Hawkeye James Ferentz as well as Buffalo Bill and former Hawkeye Ike Boettger will both be rocking custom made cleats showing their support for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. It may be my biased opinion but the “Iowa Wave” has quickly turned into one of the greatest traditions in all of sports. Seeing two former Hawkeyes who spent time at the end of the first quarter standing, waving to the children fighting their own battle as they watched from above continue to show support on the biggest stage in football makes it all the better.
